A Missouri man was arrested after he allegedly beat his daughter to death with a baseball bat.

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (WKRC) - A Missouri man was arrested after he allegedly beat his daughter to death with a baseball bat.

Dustin Beechner, 37, is accused of using an aluminum bat to kill his 6-year-old daughter, Jozlyn Marie Beechner. He was taken into custody on Sept. 2 and is currently charged with child abuse resulting in death.

A probable cause statement says Jozlyn died from blunt force trauma and that her body had been placed on Beechner's roof underneath a white sheet. Beechner reportedly led investigators to the body. Authorities said she had been struck with the bat several times.

Beechner was denied bond last week. According to the St. Joseph News-Press, Beechner told the judge, "I've been doing good for a year and a half in recovery. Some things have been going on in my life..." But the judge cut him off, saying anything he said in front f the prosecution could be used against him during a trial.

Jozlyn would have turned 7 on Sept. 15. A candlelight vigil is scheduled for that night.

"Jozlyn was sweet, smart, sassy, ornery and happy all wrapped up in one little body with giant blue eyes. She loved to color and dance. She liked to laugh and tease with her friends and family. She loved pink and purple, rainbows, unicorns, glitter, and bows," an obituary for the girl reads.
