Theranos Scandal: Elizabeth Holmes' Early Prison Release Date Updated
Share
Elizabeth Holmes, the disgraced founder of Theranos, is poised for an earlier release from federal prison than anticipated. According to the Bureau of Prisons’ online database, her expected release date from a Texas facility is now August 16, 2032, marking a four-month reduction from the previously slated December 29, 2032.
Last year, a judge sentenced Holmes to 11 years behind bars for orchestrating a massive investor fraud scheme that swindled hundreds of millions of dollars.
Inmates in federal facilities can earn sentence reductions for exemplary behavior and participation in certain prison work programs. This adjustment marks Holmes' second reduction in less than a year; she previously received a two-year reduction in July.
Holmes is currently serving her sentence at Federal Prison Camp Bryan, a minimum-security facility located approximately 100 miles from Houston.
